I am researching the SPLITTER family from La Crosse, Wisconsin. Wilhelm (William) Splitter Senior was born in March 13, 1805 at Mecklenburg Schwerin Germany. He married Sophia Heinke who was born March 22, 1809 in Hagenow, Germany. They had 8 childern. Two older sons were teachers but the names are unknown. In addition, they had two older daughters names unknown who married Von Sien and Buck (Book).The four childern that came to the United States were Mary Catharine born July l7, 1831; Wilhelm (William) Junior Born December 18, 1833; Caroline born August 29, 1837; Francis Splitter born May 28 1845. The four childern that came to the United States were believe to be born at Damm near Prachim Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany. Any information would be appreciated. The Splitter Family Reunion for 2008 will be held at the Harm Delmont Splitter home church which will be at Big Springs, Nebraska. The schedule is to start with a cook out at 6:00 P.M. Friday, August 8. Saturday August 9 we will have a noon dinner and program on family history. Sunday August 10 at 10:45 A.M. We will attend the family worship service of at the Big Springs Church.     Wilhelm and Mary photo is after they were married in 1864. Wilhelm was 31 years old and Mary was 18 years old. They lived near Hokah, Houston County, Minnestoa and bought 80 acres and built a large stone house and a wooden barn with a basement, using wooden pegs for nails. They moved to Lorraine, Kansas in 1878. Married by Rev. Charles Schenk (Lutheran) August 6, 1864, Middleton, Wisconsin.
