The Wayne Gardiner Splain Family Tree

I am researching the Splain - Herron Family Tree. I am looking for the actual date that William Splaine entered the United States. I am also interested in why the children of William moved to Columbia, PA.
This branch of the Splaines came from Ireland around 1840 - 1850 and first settled in Williamsport, PA. Some of the children (John Cyrus, Richard, William and Anne) of William and Sarah (Herron, also from Ireland) moved to Columbia, PA around 1850 - 1860. I am in the fifth generation of William and Sarah Splaine.
