2. GEORGE AARON2 SPROUL, SR. (SPROUL1) was born Apr 13, 1825 in Rogersville, Tn. Hawkins Co., and died Jul 10, 1903 in Vancouver, Wash. Clark Co.. He married SARAH ANN ACKERMAN Jan 11, 1849 in Fairview, Union Co., OH - Home of Abraham Ackerman, daughter of ABRAHAM ACKERMAN.

Notes for GEORGE AARON SPROUL, SR.:
1825 born near Rogersville, Hawkins, Tn. (some records say 1827)
1849 went to Ohio and married Sarah---Why Ohio? Relatives?
1856 went to Wisconsin, near Boonsboro.
1858 went back to Ohio.
1861-1864 Civil War - Ohio Vol. Infantry 66th. rgmt. co. K
A "few" years after the close of the war went back to Tn. Short (?) stay then
back to Union Co., Ohio.
1869 moved to Indiana (Nob Hills).
1871 went to Nebraska. About 6mi. north and east of David City located a
homestead.
1873 The great grasshopper destruction.
1880 Census- Butler Co., Neb., Franklin Precinct states Geo. age 54, born TN.,
father born PA, mother born TN.
1882 moved to Mo.
1883 back to Neb.
1887 sold homestead, filed on timber claim near the Loup River in Merrick Co.
Neb.
1890 sold claim and headed for Oregon. Bought 5 acres of stump land 3 mi.
north of Vancouver, Wa.
1903 died in Vancouver, Wa. Death cert. only lists parents as __Sproul(e) and
___Wells.
Note:
Letter dated Jan. 13, 1974 to Mrs. Prather from Mrs. H. Dale Findley had a part of the 1880 census for Butler Co., NE, Franklin Precinct attatched. This listed George Sproul age 54 born Tenn., father born PA, mother born Tenn; Sarah Sproul age 56 born N.Y., father born N.J., mother from Conn.

Notes for SARAH ANN ACKERMAN:
According to French's Gazateer, Pompey Hill was part of the town of Pompey. Pompey Hill was on the summit of a ridge. A footnote adds: Water from one side of the roof of the hotel at this place finds its way into the St. Lawrence, and from the other into Chesapeake Bay. Pompey was formed in Jan. 1789. It lies upon the E. border of the county, S. of the center.
In 1844, Sarah was married to Aaron Archer of Union Co., OH. Three years later she was left a widow with one child, Hanna Mary Archer (Cratty).

Civil War Pension papers mentions a family Bible!
