This page is dedicated to researching the family trees of the DePlaunty, DePlanty, DePlounty, Ewing, Hership, Keeler, Lassner, Richards, Stiehl, Wagner, Winkler and Weishuhn Families of Michigan, France, Germany, Canada & parts unknown! If you have info on any of these families, please contact me and we can share history!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The DEPLAUNTY family originally came from Canada. Several branches have been lost. My line is headed by William DePlaunty who married Jennie RICHARDS (she was born in Danzig, Germany and immigrated to Michigan with her parents). Their children included: Jenny, Julia, Ann, Leo (was a Catholic Priest), William, Francis, Sarah, Catherine, George & Jim. There were at least three other children who died in infancy, but it is unclear whether they were male or female. George DePlaunty was my grandfather. He married Marie STIEHL and they had four living children. The William & Jennie (Jane) DePlauntys lived in the Flint/Saginaw/Bay City area of Michigan. The family now has residence in Oakland and Lapeer Counties. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The EWING and HERSHIP families were joined in the marriage of Joseph HERSHIP and Jean EWING. They had several children, including Edward and Alice (who is my grandmother). It is believed that they were of German and Irish descent, respectively. Jean was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
The KEELER family lived in the Arenac County area and I have very little information. George Keeler married Matilda WEISHUHN. And, the WEISHUHNs were from Canada. George and Matilda's children were: Goldie, Roy, Ruth and Hazel. Goldie married Henry STIEHL and Roy married Mary OLMSTEAD.
Research on the LASSNER branch has revealed the following information: My grandfather's parents were Peter LASSNER and Rosita "Rose" WINKLER. Peter was the son of Simon and Catherine (nee' SCHMITT). Rose was the daughter of Andreas and Sara (nee' MAUER). Both Peter and Rose were born in Transylvania and immigrated to Ohio.
The STIEHL family settled in the Arenac and Bay County areas of Michigan. Henry Stiehl married Minnie WAGNER. They had many children...Emma, Edward, Henry, John and Charles. Henry (the second) was my gr-grandfather and he was married to Goldie KEELER. Their children were: Marie, Matilda, Walter, Henry, Ruthie & Letta.
