I have been researching my family for many years but have reached several dead ends. I am hoping that this page will aid me in finding that one lost connection which will break the information loose.
The GOMES family originated in Calheta, Madeira - a Portuguese Island off the coast of Africa. In 1884, Francisco GOMES left the island and travelled to Hawaii to work on the pineapple plantations in the hopes of creating a better life for his family. He left his wife Maria Pereira DE SOUSA and their first-born daughter Mary behind to follow at a later date. He eventually sent for his wife and she arrived 14 April 1888. However, Mary had to be left behind on Madeira as travel was too dangerous in those days for children. It was many years before she was able to join them. In Hawaii, the family prospered and many more children were born to Francisco and Maria. Shortly after 4/11/1912, they came to California and finally settled in Santa Clara, CA where they stayed until their deaths.

The KUNTZ family emigrated from Nothweiller, Germany in 1892. Philipp KUNTZ, his wife Eva Elizabeth BINTZ along with their first six children homesteaded in Minnesota and then in North Dakota. Philipp KUNTZ, JR. (my grandfather) met and married his wife Anna Louise LUBITZ in Balfour, North Dakota. After the birth of their first three children, they moved to California where the entire family soon settled and grew.

The REMBAS family got their beginnings in Konin, Poland on March 10, 1884 when Ignatius REMBAS (REMBACYZ) was born. On January 25, 1911, in Jablone, Konin, Poland, he married Josephine BIALAS (BELAZE). In 1912, Ignatius travelled to America to escape induction into the Russian Army. After settling and working in Buffalo, New York, he sent for his wife and son in 1914. After the birth of several of their children, Ignatius bought a farm in the little village of Attica, New York, where they raised their children.

The SPRING family dates back to Sir Henry Spryng, Lord of the Manor Durham. In 1634, John SPRING and his wife Elinor (Eleanor) came to America on the ship "Elizabeth". It is believed that all the families of the name of SPRING in New England, and perhaps in the United States, are descended from John and Elinor SPRING.
