The Springett Family in England

There appear to be two branches of the Springett family in England. One is from the Kent/Sussex area and the most famous of this branch is Guilemina Springett who married William Penn in the 1640s. William then went on to found Pennsylvania in the U.S.A.

The other branch comes from the Essex area.

I am new to geneaolgy but have found over 500 people in mine and my wife's family from asking relatives for information. I have been finding more by going online.
I have also paid many visits to the Family Records Centre in London and got useful information from the index of births/marriges/deaths and the census.

I have so far traced my routes to West Bergholt in Essex and then onto Sudbury in Suffolk where there are also many Springetts. I am now looking through parish registers to continue my research.

There is a Springett family chapel attached to the village church in Ringmer near Brighton in England. The church has records going back to the doomsday book around 1066-1068 and also records the doings of a Knight at the battle of Agincourt. One Sir Hillary Springett. Oh yes! there is also a Springett coat of arms granted to Sir Herbert Springett of Ringmere in 1612 (see Dave Sharples and Todd Springetts websites - links below)

Below is information on my branch, the Essex/Suffolk branch, of the Springett family.

I am also researching the FABIEN, KNOWLTON, DAINES and GOCHER families
