Family history has always intrigued me. As a child, sitting around a kitchen table listening to stories of days gone by, only made me long for more. When our son was young he had a school report to do on his family heritage. It was great fun calling relatives to get information. That's when I got hooked! It was an on again, off again love affair while my children were growing up. Then it was my nephews turn to write a family genealogy record. I was thrilled to help him with what information I had collected. The love affair heated up again...And now that I am retired I have time to explore and dig into the past. When my mother died in 2002, I inherited tons of family pictures and keepsakes. It was painfully evident as I sorted through these treasures that she wasn't here to answer the many questions I had. I made a promise to myself that I would gather as much information on my family, and my husbands family so that my grandchildren and their children would know Their roots. As with all Genealogy this is a work in progress. Additions and corrections are always welcome. "I am bound to them though I cannot look into their eyes, or hear their voices, I honor their history, cherish their lives. I will tell their story." |
