Edward Glennon Family of Ireland/Emerald, Kansas

Updated September 22, 2000

The Edward Glennon family left Ireland/England starting about 1851. As enough money was saved for passage the oldest children were sent until the entire family was reunited. Edward married Alice Slyman. They were from Co. Roscommon. They lived and worked in Manchester, England for about 19 years.
Patrick settled in Kankakee, Ill. Michael settled in the new state of Kansas and the rest of the family (except Patrick)settled in Kansas with Michael. The children were: Patrick, Michael, Annie, Mary, Edward the son, James, Thomas, Bridget (Getta), Ellen and Christopher. Annie married John Christie, Mary married Daniel McManus, Edward's wife was named Jane. Edward fought in the Civil War for the Union and was a POW of Andersonville Prison. James signed a Quit Claim deed to property over to his brother Thomas and never was heard from again. Thomas (my Grandfather) left Kansas and settled in Purcell, IT, Oklahoma with his wife Bridget and, at the time, 8 children. Bridget (Getta) married Lincoln Ellis Clark and was found on the 1890 census in Alabama. Ellen married Charles Walker Embry and settled in Kansas. Christopher never married and eventually died and is buried in Lawton, Oklahoma.
