February 7, Ryland Stoops was born to Michelle and Ryan Stoops, the second great grandson of Van and Joy.

Van Merrill, Sr. passed away on February 25, 2006, survived by his wife of 60 years, Joy, and their five children Van, Linda, Mary, Gayle, and Barbara as well as 14 grand children and 2 great grandsons. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

In March 2006 Joy moved from Missouri to California to live with her daughter Linda.
