Amanda Anderson Huseby, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nils Anderson, born December 11, 1883, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Johnson, Sr., maternal grandparents, in Adams Township. Their house was built of logs. Their home was located about 3/4 of a mile east of the Howard Thompson home. Only a tree remains to mark the birthplace. The following year, moved with parents to a farm in Marshall Township. In 1888, father decided to try something different so moved to Taopi to run a hardware store. No doubt this venture wasn't too satisfactory so moved back to the same farm. Started school in Taopi, attended school near our home, District 105, later named the McKinley School. Father taught school in this district after moving to Marshall township and also taught in the locality where I was born. Lived in Marshall Township until 1908. Was christened 1/13/1884, Adams, by Pastor J. Muller Eggen and confirmed by Eggen on 5/19/1898, Ascension Day.

Attended the Southern Minnesota Normal College at Austin and graduated from the teacher's course in April 1902. Enrolled in the business course at the same school, fall of 1902, but was offered a school north of Rose Creek. Started teaching a few days prior to my nineteenth birthday.

Taught in the following schools, also:

District No. 83, Washington School, Clayton Township, 1903-1905
District No. 65, Roosevelt School, Marshall Township, 1905-1907
District No. 8, Adams Public School, 1907-1908
