Since Henry had an unhappy marriage with his first wife, he became acquainted with Jane Halshall of Knowsley who became his mistress.

Notes for MARGARET CLIFFORD:
She had a very unhappy marriage with Henry. According to Peter Stanley in his book, "The House of Stanley," she was "perpetually causing trouble with the Queen and quarrelling with her husband and relatives. She spent little if any time at Lathom or Knowsley, and after 1567 when they separated, she appears to have spent the remainder of her life in London."

Notes for MICHAEL STANLEY:
He served in the Parliamentary Army as Cornet of Horse. He fought in the Irish Wars. In 1662, he was pardoned by Charles II, and on November 10, 1666, he was granted land in Roscommon and Galloway in Ireland, under the Land Act.
