Mecklenburg County North Carolina Registry Deed Book 3 Page 29-30 - " This Indenture made the Eighteen day of February in the VIII year of the Reign of our Sovering Lord George the third & in the year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred & sixty seven between Godfrey Lipe of the province of North Carolina & County of Mecklenburg of the one part and Lannard Staren of the County & Province ofrsd of the part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the Sum of Thirty four pounds Eight Shillings Current Money of North Carolina by the said Lennard Starens, to the said Godfrey Lipe & wife in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby fully acknowledged & the said Godfrey Lipe & Barbara his wife hath given Granted Bargained Sold and by these presents doth Give Grant Bargain and sell unto the said Lennard Starens and his heirs and assigns a certain Tract or parcel of land lying and being in the province of North Carolina and County of Mecklenburg Containing by survey one hundred and thirty six acres of land lying on a branch of Dutch Buffalo Creek the waters of Rocky or Johnson river beginning at a hickory and Running thence South Eighty four Degrees west one hundred and seventy poles to a Red Oak N. 1 Degree west one hundred and sixty poles to a stake, thence N. Eighty nine Degrees East one hundred and four poles to a red oak thence South twenty five degrees East one hundred and sixty two poles to the first Station. To have and to hold the afrsaid one hundred & thirty six acres of land with the appurtances and all Rights Privileges and improvement to the same in anywise belonging to him the said Godfrey Lipe & Barbara his wife,his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Godfrey Lipe & Barbara his wife for their heirs and assigns do hereby Covenant andassigns shall and may forever hereafter pecably and quietly have hold occupy Possess and Enjoy the affore granted land and Premises without lott or molistassion of any Person whatsoever and the said Godfrey Lipe & Braba his wife Do the oblige themselves their heirs Executors and Adminst to warrant and Defend the afore granted land to him the said Lennard Starens his heirs and assigns forever against the claim of all persons whatsoever whereof the said parties have hereunto set their lands and seals the day and year first above written."

At a Court continued and held for Washington County Virginia March 20, 1782 Page 1096 "On motion of Jacob Hice Administration is granted him on the Estate of Leonard Starns Deceasedwho made Oath thereto and Entered into & acknowledged his Bond in with Aaron Lewis and R. Cravens his security in the Sum of One Hundred pounds for his faithful Administration of the said Decendants Estate. Ordered that George Gray, R. Baker, George Hice and John Baer or any three of them being first sworn appraise the Estate of Leonard Starns Deceased and make return to next Court."
At a Court continued and held for Washington County August the 21st, 1782. "An Inventory and appraisement of the Estate of Leonard Starns Exhibited in Court and Ordered to be recorded."

Among the claims # 39 Leonard Starns listed as one of the specie creditors of the estate of John Starns decd. Account filed by the administrators of the estate in 1796.

Sponors were Elias Kehrlack and Margrit [Schnenectady Church Book]. Records in the deed books in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina suggest that this is the wife of Leonard Starns.
