2. GEORGE WASHINGTON² PERKINS (EDWARD¹) was born 1825 in Tennessee, and died November 1861 in Tennessee. He married ELIZABETH HERRON July 15, 1847 in Obion County, Tennessee, daughter of J. HERRON and N. ?. She was born Abt. 1830 in Tennessee, and died Aft. 1890 in Cross Bayou, Mississippi County, Arkansas.

Notes for GEORGE WASHINGTON PERKINS:
George W. Perkins died in Nov. 1861 in Civil War. It is uncertain if he died in combat. His interment date is before any major battles by his unit. It is my belief that he died from exposure to the elements. The winter was very harsh and his unit was poorly clothed and equipped. They were required to march a great distance from Northeast Arkansas through Missouri, Kentucky and Tennessee. George W. Perkins is buried at Confederate Soldiers Rest, Elmwood Cemetery, Memphis Tennessee. Another soldier from the same regiment but different company as George is also buried in Confederate Soldiers Rest. His name is T. J. Perkins. I suspect he is a relative, maybe even Georges brother. There is no other information available to identify T.J. Perkins.
