3.  ALBERT3 CRAIG (GEORGE2, ROBERT1) was born 1854 in Lawrenceville, Georgia, and died 1916 in Lawrenceville, Georgia.  He married CALLIE STANLEY 1884 in Lawrenceville, Georgia.  She was born 1866 in Dacula, Ga, and died 1927 in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

 

Notes for CALLIE STANLEY:

Callie Stanley was born at the home of her parents in Dacula, Georgia in 1866. She lived her entire life in Dacula and Lawrenceville.

 

In 1884 at the age of eighteen she married Albert Craig, the son of George and Ann Terrell Craig. George's father was Robert Craig of Lawrenceville. The Craig plantation is legendary in Gwinnett as it was called "Little Egypt". During the early years of the county Robert Craig built an estate which stretched some ten miles across. He owned many slaves and maintained a storehouse of grains and goods which were purchased by the whole county. Robert Craig was the grandson of John and Ellen Craig, who sailed for America from Ireland in 1773.

 

Albert and Callie Craig were Presbyterians and very active at Fairview Presbyterian Church in Lawrenceville, where they are both buried. They had three children:

 

Early Leon married Daisy Williams in 1923

     daughter, Louette who married a Hardegree

     son,      Dwight who still resides in Lawrenceville

 

Daisy Williams was a daughter of Joel Cash Williams and Emma Tanner Williams. She was born in 1892 on the family farm on Drowning Creek Road in Dacula. Leon and Daisy were married fifty-seven years at his death in 1980. Daisy was a homemaker and teacher for thirty-eight years and in 1986 was the last surviving member of the Lawrenceville High School class of 1910. Daisy died at home in Lawrenceville in 1987.
