Descendant of Col. George Mathews and of Thomas Meriwether. Daughter of Erasmus H. Jordan (b. 1848) and Rebecca Glover 1850-97), his wife, m. 1869. Granddaughter of Reuben Jordan (1814-85) and Mary Bonner (1820-1909), his wife, m. 1839. Gr-granddaughter of Fleming Jordan (1791-1868) and Annie Meriwether (1790-1853), his wife. Gr-gr-granddaughter of Thomas Meriwether and Rebekah Mathews (1770-1825), his wife. See No. 75572. Thomas Meriwether served under Lafayette in the Virginia militia, and, being a fine shot, was selected to pick off officers at Yorktown. He was born, about 1759, in Virginia; died in Georgia. |
