Notes for James Marcus STANLEY: James (Mark) Stanley was was the son of Early Stanley, Sr. and grandson of James Young Stanley. Mark married Flora Jackson and he moved to Miami Florida in the 1920s. They had five children:

Mark and Carl operated general merchandise stores in Dacula and Lawrenceville. A lot of their business was done on credit or trade for pou ltry and other goods. Their store in Dacula still stands, as does the building they erected in Lawrenceville near the train depot. Also in Dacula, the building where Henry Stanley operated a storefront still stands. After a decline in business led to bankruptcy , Mark moved to Miami in Dec 1923. Mark opened Stanley Cash Grocery . Carl would follow in two years. Daughter Ellene says her dad repa id every pnney owed from the banruptcy.

Service for James Marcus Stanley, 67, who died at his summer place at Hendersonville, NC on June 8 ... with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Stanley moved here 34 years ago from Dacula, Georgia and was A member of the Biscayne Bay Masonic Lodge and Woodmen of the World.
Surviving are his wife, Flora; three daughters, Mrs. J. Harold Medlin, Mrs. John Henderson, and Mrs. Richmond; two sons, Mark Jr. and John Owen; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Urmston, all of Miami.
