Rachel's parents are not known with any certainty at this time. Family members recall that Rachel spoke of Uncles Rease, Tom and John. She was thought to be Indian.

The 1880 census of Tennessee, transcribed and indexed by Byron Sistler, shows Rachel living with Bryant and Nancy Honeycutt in Scott County at Household 251. This was after the divorce from Hezikiah (and he is living at Household 260). So, did she go to live with her older brother or did she return to her parents' home?
