To the Hon. P. W. Chambers, Judge of the County Court of Scott County, the petition of Henry Webb and Mary Jane Webb, residents of said Scott County,
The Petitioners Respectfully Show to the Court:
That they are now man and wife and that they married many years ago. That the Petitioner Henry Webb is 60 years of age and Mary Jane Webb 51 years of age.
Petitioner own some property. Petitioners have raised a vary (sic) large family of children and they are now all past 21 years of age, except one daughter and she is about 15.
About two years ago petitioners took into their home a little girl about 4 year old then and now nearly 6 years of age. Her name is Nellie Webb and she is a grand daughter of Petitioners. Her father died when she was about three weeks old. The Petitioners are the parents of her father. Since the death of her father her mother has married and has 5 other children in all. Her mother is poor and largely dependent on her own labor to support the children and is not in possition to properly take care of said child, Nellie Webb. Nellie has been dutiful to petitioners and they have great affection for her.
Petitioners wish to adopt said Nellis Webb as their child, having full confidence in her, petitioners pray to be allowed to do so, and that said Nellie Webb have all the privileges of legitimate child, with capacity to inherit from petitioners and succeed to their real and personal estate as their heir and next of kin. They also pray that said child when adopted continue in the same name as she is now known and called. Signed, Henry Webb and Mary Jane Webb
Subscribed and sworn this 3rd day of July, 1922.

The Court being satisfied with the reasons given for the adoption, sanctions the same and orders that said Henry Webb and Mary Jane Webb be allowed to adopt Nellie Webb as their child, and that said child hall have all the privileges of a legitimate child of the said Henry Webb and Mary Jane Webb with capacity to inherit from than and succeed to their real and personal estate as heir and next of kin. It is further ordered that the Name of said Nellie Webb be continued the same, by which name she will hereafter be known and may sue and be sued.
