Botetourt County, Virginia Deed Book 9, page 554-555: Know that all men by these presents, that I Jonathan Harrison and Mercy my wife of the County of Claiburn State of Tennesee for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars Virginia currency to us in hand paid the receipt whereof we do by these presents aknowlege Have sold and by these presents do bargain and Sell, convey and make over to John Persinger in Fee simple all our right, Title and Interest in, and to a certain Tract of land containing Three hundred acres being the same more or less lying and being in the County of Bottetourt in the State of Virginia on Murryes run (alias black run a Branch of Roanoak river and being the Land whereon William Terry deceased the Father of the said Mercy the wife of said Jonathan Harrison formerly lived, and whereon he died siezed which said Interest in the forsaid land became vested in the said Jonathan Harrison, as a Joint Legatee to the Estate of the Father of his wife Mercy the Said William Terry deceased, who died intestate, and moreover we the said Jonathan Harrison and Mercy my wife for ourselves and our heirs do covenant and agree forever quit claim or any pretention of claim to the aforesaid Land, and that the Said John Persinger his heirs or assigns, shall and may forever hereafter, have hold and quietly possess and enjoy the Said Land and premises to gether. In witness whereof we the said Jonathan Harrison and Mercy Harrison have herewith set our hands and seals this 18 day of May in the year of out Lord One thousand eight hundred and eight.
