The story goes... Three brothers came to America from Brightlingsea England as indentured servants in the 18th century and settled in the Carolinas. The brothers names were Joseph, William II and Thomas Stalsworth. There are several variations of the surname spelling. Stolsworth, Stalsworth and Stallsworth are all the same family. I am a descendant from the brother Joseph.
Joseph was born in 1742. In NC during the year 1773 he married Mary Dial. They had at least three children. Elizabeth, Samuel and Jesse. Joseph died 01 Nov 1796 in Abbeville, SC. I am a descendant from the son Samuel.
Samuel was born in 1784 in Orange County, NC. In Orange County on 20 Oct 1803 he married Martha Pickard. They had at least seven children. Mary, Amos, John, Polly, Samuel, Martha and Elizabeth. Samuel died in 1830. I am a descendant from the son Amos.
Amos was born about 1803 in Orange County, NC. He migrated to Grainger County, TN. and it was there on 26 Dec 1826 he married Katherine Murphy. They had at least eight children. Jane, John, Thomas, Elizabeth, Samuel, William, Martha and Nancy. Katherine died in Jan 1845 and Amos died in 1844. I am a descendant from the son Thomas.
Thomas was born in 1830. He was married three times. In Jun 1870 he married Penelope Barron Wright. They had at least six children. Williard, Mary, Samuel, Eliza, Genettie and Thomas. On 27 Oct 1883 he married for a second time to Sarah Brewer Overbay. They had at least four children. Jack, Frank, Gabriel and Matilda. Sarah died on 28 Dec 1894 and Thomas married for a third time to Mary Overbay on 18 Sep 1898. Thomas and Mary did not have any children. Thomas died on 06 Jan 1903. I am a descendant from the son Jackson "Jack" from the second marriage.
Jackson was born 26 Apr 1884 in Livingston, KY. He was married twice. His first marriage was to Virgie (last name unknown) in 1903. They had at least four children. William, Clarence, Russell and Edward. Jackson was married a second time 24 Dec 1918 to Delia Proctor. They had at least six children. Viola, J Harold, Jack II, Naomi, Ralph and Lorene. Delia died 22 Jan 1990 in Toledo, OH and Jackson died 02 Jan 1940 in Livingston, KY. I am a descendant from the son Ralph from the second marriage.
Ralph was born 30 Apr 1928 in Roda, VA. He married Wilma Arlene Edwards 04 Jun 1947 in Sylvania, OH. They had three children. Ralph II, Gary and James. Wilma died 01 Jun 1976 and Ralph died 17 Jun 1976 in Sylvania, OH. I am the first child from the marrige.
