William Wilkins, Jr., Eldest Son of William Wilkins, Sr.: (by Sanders Newton Wilkins)

Coming as he did after the advent of FOUR daughters, it made him successor to his father, was born in 1815; just while the country was recovering from the war of 1812. His life as a boy was in the footsteps of his father.

At the age of 28 he was married to Miss Lucy Jones and to this union was born five girls and four boys: Montgomery, Monroe, Columbus and Delaware. The daughters are Susan, Missouri, Alwilda, Rivanah and "Bama". At the death of his first wife, William Wilkins, Jr. was married to:

Miss Nancy Taylor, and to this second marriage was born two boys and two girls: Sons: William Oregon and Charles. Daughters: Ella and Mirriam.

The three older girls died early in life as did Montgomery and Columbus -- others are scattered al over the southern states and many children have come to these families. Wm Oregon, Ella V., Charles, and Mirriam are the children of 2nd wife.

William Wilkins, Jr. is buried in MT. Zion Baptist Cemetery, Section 1, Township 7, Range 6W.
May 10, 1886 is the date of birth that has been put on his tombstone.
