| Like many I am a decendent of Robert Abernathy who came from Scotland in early 1600's. Mt direct line is Robert III, John B, Frederick, James B., Hardaway, Robert M. Eustace J. I am especially interested in finding info on my G-Grandfather Robert Millard Abernathy who was born Oct, 1848 in Giles Cty Tennessee and moved to Lauderdale Cty in 1873. He married Parthenia Ray b. Aug 5, 1852 d.Jan 5, 1929 in Ripley, Lauderdale Cty., Tn., buried in the Grace Cemetery Ripley.. I would like to find out where and how he died and where he is buried. He was a Methodist circuit minister. I am very much interested in finding families of his children, 1.Ernest E b June 1875, 2.Inez Gertrude b. July 1877, married James Hancock, 3.Eveline b. 1879, 4.Eustace Jerome b. Oct 1882 Eustace is my grandfather. Married Annie Garland, father John Garland mother Mary Ann Childress, also from Lauderdale Cty,. Tn. All of their children were born in Lauderdale Cty, Bessie, Ernestine married (Gilbert Lynn Vandergriff, both buried in Popular Grove Cemetery, Henning, Tn, their daughter Betty married James Woods also buried in Popular Grove), Mildred, Carrie Dell, Gertrude, Sam, Jerome, Leo, David Lynn, William V, Wilford Ray, Eveline had one child only known by family members as "Gene" Abernathy born in Lauderdale? and died there in 1985. Any info on these family would be appreciated, would love to find someone with old pictures...... Surnames that I am researching for my family are ABERNATHY-GARLAND-RAY-LUCY-HANCOCK from Tenn and Virginia ROBERTSONS-TILLOTSON from Missouri and Illinois |
