THE STEBENS CHILDREN'S THEATRE, in Mason City, Iowa, USA, was established through the estate of Bertha Stebens. She made the sole financial contribution which allowed for its establishment and subsequent operation. This was the initiative of her attorney.
The Stebens Children Theatre has an extensive program for children becoming involved in theatre. Productions are professional and well attended.
Bertha Stebens was a teacher and the only child of her parents, Ernest Henry & Emma (Lech) Stebens. Ernest had developed several farms in the Rock Falls area, and became the President of a local bank. Ernest was the only son of Claus Johann Frederich & Abel C (Heerde) Stäben, and the grandson of Joachim Hinrich & Marg (Kuhl) Stäben. Both Joachim and Claus had migrated to the US from Wöhrden. Joachim is the patriarch of the Davenport Clan of Stebens.
