Caroline Wilhelmine (Stehbens) Stäben was born in Wöhrden, Holstein on 21 March 1858. She was the 5th daughter/9th child of Detlef & Anna Stäben(Stehbens), and she migrated as a 7 year old on the "Sophie" with her parents and living siblings to Maryborough, Queensland. She moved from Maryborough to Bundaberg with her father and older married brother in 1872 and lived on the new selection at Kepnock at first. She married John Lister in the Bundaberg Customs House in 1874. She has over 800 descendants recorded on the Stehbens Family Tree. From their 13 children there were 51 grandchildren. Descendant surnames include LISTER, SPAROZVICH, KINGSTON, HANRAHAN, WILSON, BOZOKY, CATHCART, MARLES, NIELSEN, MADLE, HANSEN, MACGREGOR, O'CONNOR, BOND, CORBETT, NELLER, GEOGHEGAN, LINDERBERG, IVERS, HUGHES, GROTHERR, FORD, LOWRY, NEWPORT and others.
