This Lantern Slide was projected at the cinema in Clinton, Iowa to promote a dance in Lyons, held on 16 June 1933. John Stehbens was tall, handsome and took pride in his appearance. He was a wonderful musician and played the violin in leading orchestras but he also led his own local orchestra which was in popular demand for local dances in Lyons and Clinton, Iowa, USA during the 1920s and 1930s. John served in World War I, and sadly spent much of the rest of his life in veterans' hospitals. He was the 4th child of Nicolaus Heinrich Stehben & Emma Winkler. Nicolaus had migrated to the USA in 1884 and his bride, Emma had done so in 1876. Lineage: John son of Emma (Winkler) & Nicolaus Stehben s/o Johanna (Lange) & Franz Stäben s/o Christiana C. (Bledderhäuser) & Franz Staeben s/o Frantz Hinrich & Catharina (Rheder) Stebens.
