Since David Stehbens was a child he has been building model rockets and model aircraft. He first developed his interest through travelling in aircraft with his parents to Port Moresby, Manila, Hong Kong, London and Singapore. His skill was learnt at Space Pilots, a Christian boys club based at Rangeville Uniting Church in Toowoomba, Queensland and led by Trevor McIvor. Through the club he learnt to build, launch and design solid fuel rockets, and became familiar with space programs of USSR and USA. He began his career as an architectural draftsman rising to Operations Manager for Tamawood Homes & Dixon Homes in Brisbane, Queensland. Then in 2009, David finished work in the building industry to convert his private pilot's licence into a commercial licence. He has now fulfilled his childhood dream, making and flying model planes with his 2 sons, Matthew and Joshua, and flying aircraft professionally. David was voiced his dream as "to fly among the terrain and weather of Papua New Guinea".
