Help with identification is required with this photograph. Please e-mail any comments or suggestions. What is known is that Johanna Catharine Stehbens, the South Australian Stehbens matriarch is seated on the right. Her daughter, Marie, who never married, is standing in the centre. Marie was born in Queensland in 1873, the 6th child of Johanna and Jacob Stehbens. The identity of the young girl is uncertain, but is believed to be Annie Elizabeth Stehbens, Johanna's grandaughter and Marie's niece. Annie married Thomas Hunt and lived most of her married life in Melbourne. If this is Annie she is about 12, which dates the photo as 1905, then Marie is 32 and Johanna is 68. Annie Stehbens was a daughter of Johanna & Jacob's firstborn, Claus Detlef Stehbens, who married Mary Elizabeth Mills. Johanna's maiden surname is not confirmed and her birthplace not defined at this point in our research. It is thought that she was Johanna Tietscher (or Tityer or Tietzer). Annie and Tom Hunt had one son, Les Hunt. Les married Pearl Coulson and they had 3 children Ronald, Suzanne and Dianne.
