During the Gulf War in 1991, Peter Robert Oliver was assigned to active duty as the head of a training unit in the Royal Australian Navy. In that theatre, he served on several ships at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. At a ceremony in Melbourne, Peter was presented with an Australian Service Medal. He was accompanied at the presentation by his wife Stephanie and sons, Thomas and Patrick. Peter's lineage is: Peter Oliver s/o Mary E Stehbens d/o Walter W E Stehbens s/o William Edwin Stevens s/o Wilhelm Stäben s/o Detlef Staeben s/o Frantz H Stebens.
