These 2 homes are about 2 kms apart. The top photo depicts a home at Poppenhusen. Families of our Wöhrden Clan have lived in it from 1800 till the 1950s. They have included the Peters, the König and Carstens (shown) families all of which are Staeben Clan families. Once a home-barn combined, now it is merely an animal stable. It was from the Edemannswisch farm house(bottom left) that Detlef & Anna Stäben migrated with their family to Australia in 1865. This once impressive building is now derelict. Because the owner used it wholly as a barn, the local authority would not allow him to sell it for renovation as a family dwelling. Sadly, the thatched roof has collapsed and it stands forlorn.
