Roy Stehbens at work in Stehbens Brothers Butchery in the main street of Childers, Queensland. His brother, Bill Stehbens is in the doorway. Their sister, Ivy Stehbens, who was their book-keeper, is seen in the background. Their brother, Walter Stehbens, was also a partner in the business. [For a colourful story published by Richie Webb about the Stehbens Brothers see the Related File, "The Battle of the Childers Butchers".] These three Stehbens brothers were the sons of Ned and Isabella Stehbens; Ned was the son of Wilhelm (nee Stäben) & Lizzie (nee Elvery) Stehbens. [Wilhelm was 12 years old when he came as one of the original immigrant family that arrived in Maryborough, Queensland in 1865. In most circumstances, Wilhelm’s surname was rendered “Stebhens”.]
