In 1966, 18 groups of new graduates from Kelvin Grove Teachers Training College were posted to primary and secondary schools across Queensland. In a new era for education in Queensland, the system of schooling system was reorganized, higher standards of teacher preparation were to be required, high schools were created in rural areas, and innovation in curricula was about to change the face of education and with it society. It wasn't so much the formal training that prepared these graduates for their careers, but their inate abilities, enthusiasm for teaching, love of learning and commitment to children that meant they generally flourished in their new profession.
