David Stehbens and his wife Karen (nee Burnicle) returned to Tasmania for their 10th wedding anniversary, having honeymooned there in 1994. This time it was for 6 days of backpacking along the Overland Track, from Waldheim to Lake St Clair. Displayed is one of his excellent photos. Crater Lake does not occupy a volcanic crater. Rather, the lake fills a cirque that was excavated during the last Ice Age. This cirque lake is just one of the features of the glaciated plateau of the magnificent World Heritage wilderness in Tasmania.
