If you visit Burnett Heads, Queensland and ask for Ken O'Connor, you'll be asked "Which one?" Ken O'Connor Senior is a commercial fisherman specializing in catching spanner crabs from his trawler. The extensive sandy bottom of Hervey Bay means that spanner crabs are abundant and each day, weather permitting, a full catch is assured. Ken is one of the few commercial operators working out of the marina at Burnett Heads today since catch limits came into force, and only the small operators are now viable. Fishing has been Ken's whole life. His eldest son, Kenneth Peter O'Connor, is the town's butcher opening every day of the week.
