Mrs Bertha Stehbens passed away on 21st February 2005, in Brisbane. Her 2 daughters Merle and Elaine were at her bedside. Bertha married Donald Stehbens in 1944 in Gladstone. Don Stehbens worked in Gladstone and then Brisbane on the waterfront. Bertha was widowed after only 22 years of marriage and she and her daughters have been close ever since. Bertha left 2 daughters, 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Her funeral was held at the Hemmant Crematorium Chapel, Brisbane on 25 February, 2005. During January 2005, Bertha travelled to Bundaberg to attend the Stehbens Family Reunion, which she thoroughly enjoyed, and which lifted her spirits.
