Family memorial to Dave & Amy STEHBENS

Family memorial to Dave & Amy STEHBENS
Having attended the Stehbens Family Reunion in Bundaberg (January 2005), a small group of descendants of Claus Detlef & Amy Stehbens, decided to mark the burial place of their Grandparents. Dulcie Clark, Merle Tysoe, Elsie Anderson and Elaine Scott offered to contibute. Great grand-daughter, Margaret Harp, located the gravesite in the Gladstone General Cemetery and as there was no headstone, a plaque was cast. Those pictured after the placing of the memorial plaque are Elaine Scott, Merle Tysoe, Elsie Anderson, Colin Hindmarch & Margaret Harp. Their inspiration came in part from the discovery that there was no memorial to Detlef Stehbens (1814-92) in Bundaberg Cemetery, nor to his wife Anna Stehbens (1821-70) in Maryborough. Thankyou from the whole family. Dave (Claus Detlef) Stehbens selected land at Bororen in 1892 and there he established "Rocky View" Jersey Stud and dairy farm. His wife was Amy Weston. The plaque reads RESTING PLACE OF / DISTRICT PIONEER / CLAUS DETLEF STEHBENS / B. 30TH JUNE 1870 / D. 30TH JUNE 1956 / LOVING HUSBAND OF / AMY STEHBENS (nee WESTON) [LINEAGEs: Merle & Elaine Stehbens ds/o Donald Stehbens s/o CD Stehbens. Margaret Anderson d/o Elsie Hindmarch. Elsie & Colin Hindmarch c/o Caroline Stehbens d/o Amy & CD Stehbens s/o Claus Johann Stehbens s/o Anna & Detlef Staeben s/o Frantz H Stebens]
