QUARRIE ANCESTORS in NEW ZEALAND
When four of the adult children of Wilhelm & Lizzie Stehbens migrated to New Zealand in the first decade of the twentieth century, three eventually returned to Queensland with their families but Minnie and George Quarrie stayed with their young family. More children were born in Shannon, North Island where Bill worked for the Dairy Co-operative Butter factory. In this montage: A. Lizzie Elvery Stehbens and her daughter Minnie Stehbens Quarrie are pictured together; B. The photograph of the new bride, Minnie with her husband Bill Quarrie, was taken in a Childers studio; C. Some of the Quarrie children include clockwise from top left William (1900-87), Myrtle (1902-87), Vera (1912-2004), Joyce (1917-2007) and Evangeline (1910-1985); D. Sylvia Quarrie Morrison died on 19th October 2008, in Tauganga, New Zealand, aged 101. Her younger sister, Joyce, celebrated her 90th birthday during August 2007. Her children were with her on that occasion. They live in Whangarei NZ, Bungendore NSW, Ballina NSW and Brisbane Q. Sadly, Joyce died a week later.
