The first Stebens migrant to the USA, was Joachim Hinrich STAEBEN (born in Wöhrden, Schleswig-Holstein in 1802). Joachim migrated with his family including Magdalena (b. 1840). They first settled in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa. Tim Philipp from Florida has compiled the branch of the Stebens Tree that descends from Magdalena, more than 300. Today her descendants are spread across the US, though there are descendant concentrations of Schlobohm in Iowa, Andres in Illinois, Pfaff, Schwede, Gerber and Hoffmann in North Dakota.
