In 1930 Cleveland and his 17 year old son Lewis were working on a bridge near
Memphis TN. On July 16, he fell from the bridge. Son Lewis watched him fall
all the way down to his death on the works below. I have most of two sets of
bridge pictures. One set is of pier construction and the other of roadbed
construction. The only bridge picture found in Kate Steppe's things after
she died was this picture from the pier construction set, I guess Cleveland
sent it to her in Staunton. I have to think that he is one of the men in the
picture, there would be no other reason for her to have it.
