3. SAMUEL2 STEPHENS (JOHN1) was born 1761 in Monmouth County, NJ, and died December 03, 1803 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He married REBECCA HALSTEAD February 22, 1790. She was born 1762 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Samuel was a merchant and he was later entrusted with the settlement of his father's estate and to care for the stepmother, Fanny (Brock) Stephens, as long as did not remarry.

5. JAMES "SHUCK"2 STEPHENS (JOHN1) was born September 06, 1773 in Freehold, Monmouth Co., NJ, and died July 08, 1861 in Jakes Run, Monongalia Co., W. Virginia. He married MARY ANN STULL May 15, 1798 in Whitely Twp., Pa., daughter of GODFREY STULL and BARBARA CARMAN. She was born November 29, 1781 in Middletown, Frederick Co., Md., and died May 10, 1857 in Battelle Dist., Monoglia Co., W. Virginia.

AMES "SHUCK" STEPHENS:
According to one of his descendants James had 8 sons. James nickname was "Shuck". James and several of his brothers migrated to Whitely Twp. in Greene Co., PA about 1796. During the 1830's Janes and his family moved to Shelby county, Indiana for a short time and then returned about 1835 to Newton in Greene Co., PA. About 1838 James and family moved to Jakes Run ( aka Days Run) in Batelle Distirct, Monogalia Co., W. Virginia where he died, He is buried in the Stephens Cemetary at Days Run.

Buried in Old Ironsides Cemetery in Kirby, Pa. It is only a few miles from Monroe County, Ohio to Greene County, Pa where this cemetery is located. Named after his father's brother.

  ii.   SAMUEL STEPHENS, b. 1807, Greene Co., PA; d. January 16, 1873, Tyler Co., W. Virgina; m. MARGARET HAGANS (?), Abt. 1826; b. Abt. 1809, Pennsylvainia; d. October 22, 1884, Tyler Co., W. Virgina.
  Notes for SAMUEL STEPHENS:
He died between April 2, 1872 and November 7, 1873. His wife signed a deed during that time as the widow of Samuel Stephens. On April 4, 1872 he sold land to E.S.B. Nichols and on November 7, 1873 his wife signed a deed as the widow of Samuel. Samuel's tombstone was found as loose sotne in the Alf Smith Cemetary near Middlesbourne, Tyler Co., W. Virgina. The Tombstone listed date of death as January 16, 1873.


6. STACY2 STEPHENS (JOHN1) was born September 06, 1779 in Monmouth Co., NJ, and died October 30, 1861 in Greene Co., PA.. He married ELIZABETH HATFIELD 1799. She was born June 30, 1780, and died April 23, 1849 in Greene Co., PA..
