Martin Philip Steer 25 The Green Ruddington Notts,NG11 6HH | Having traced my ancestors back as far as John Steer (born about 1723, St Peter's parish, Derby, UK) I have discovered some wonderful insights into the patterns of family life before the safety-net of the welfare state was introduced and also some interesting migrations that our family was previously unaware of including William Steer (born 1823 to John Steer and Hannah nee Brailsford in Castle Street, Derby) who started an entirely new branch of the family in Nottingham, Harvey Steer (born in 1833 to John Steer and Hannah nee Kinsey in Bradshaw Street, Derby) who took his wife (Eliza Stokes born 1834 to John Stokes and Sarah nee Webster in Derby) and 5 of his children to live in America and Harvey's son James H. Steer who raised his family living on the outskirts of Manchester. I have started to document my findings on this site in the hope that it may be of value to others investigating the Steer or related families. |
