* Southern Families-Steele/Mooney/Eastham/Mason*

Updated August 2, 2002

Welcome to my website! Hopefully you are a cousin who will enjoy researching these facinating familes of the South. The four main families that I am researching are:

1. The Steele family-my paternal lineage-migrated from Pennsylvania to Tennessee and then on to Cooper County, Missouri and finally to Texas. Other lineages connected with the Steele family include: Goodwin, Porter, Rollins, Beavers, Wilson, McFarland, and Kirkpatrick.

2. The Mooney family-my maternal lineage-left Ireland in the early 1800's and settled in Bullitt County, Kentucky. Descendants then went on to Arkansas, Mississippi, Texas, and Tennessee. With the help of other Mooney descendants I am trying to publish a book to be placed in genealogical libraries and for those who lack internet access. Other lineages connected with the Mooney family include: Drury and Pelton.

3. The Eastham family-my wife's paternal lineage-settled in Tennesse and then would move to Hardin and Harris Counties in Texas. Other lineages connected with the Eastham family include: Flowers, Taylor, and Brackin.

4. The Mason family-my wife's maternal lineage-left England to settle in Virginia and then move on to Tennessee. Descendants would then go on to settle in Houston, Texas. Other lineages connected with the Mason family include: Anderson, Scott, Higginbotham, May, Taylor, and Westmoreland.

Many thanks to those of you who have assisted me in my work and are helping me to share this information with the world. We have many veterans from The Revolutionary War, The Civil War, both World Wars, and Vietnam. Please email me if you have any questions, requests, or information. I will be updating this site as often as possible and whenever I receive new information. I apologize for some of the pictures that force you to turn your head to the right, or may be really big. You may want to save the picture and then open it on whatever viewing program you have for easier viewing.
