I am interested in any Stempers that lived or are related to those living in Luxembourg (Mondorf, Lorraine area) during and at the end of the First World War 1. Nicholas John Stemper (Sr) (my grandfather, who emigrated to the U.S.) had a brother named John who was a farmer in the Mondorf, Lorraine area. Also, they or their descendants (sons Peter or John)may have owned, or operated a Hotel in or near a city called Herzogenrath.Nicholas Stemper (Sr) was born15 December in Luxembourg to Mathias Stumper and Maria Schumacher. In addition, I am interested inidentifying ancestors & relativesof Amelia Manske (also known as Minnie)who was born toLudwig Manske and Augusta Meyer on November 25th,1864somewhere in Germany. She emigrated to the USA and married Nicholas John Stemper (Sr) on May 5, 1892 in Mankato Minnesota.I am also looking for members of the Carlstrom family, that lived or emigrated from Sweden (originally from the Orebro , Sweden area.Three Carlstrom brothers , Per,(akaPeder or Peter Johan), Gustav, & Carl who left Sweden to avoid military service. The final branch of my family that I am looking for is the ancestors of Anna Erickson (also spelled Ericson on some documents)She emigrated from Norway (Stavanger). She was born 8 April 1872 in Gryttens Norway to Erik Christoffersen & Kari Jacobsdatter.Other recordsseem to indicate that she originally was a farmers daughterandused the the name Anna Eriksdatter Slettatieg.I was told that Slettatieg may refer to the location ofher fathers farm as it translates to "foothills farm". | Stemper, Carlstrom, Manske, Erickson Home page Updated September 5, 2000 |
