I am updating this page as of 1-23-2007. The new family tree should be a bit more accurate, but as we all know, these are works in progress. I have been researching the Stephens clan that finally settled in Oregon; that is on my father's (Frederic Henry Stephens) side of the family. So far, I've got pretty good ancestors documented going back to the 1700's, but, I'd like to trace back to Wales, England. My aunt, Jessie Ellen Stephens, felt that was our country of origin. Just recently, Ellen Stephens Benedict, my cousin in Oregon passed away, but her research will carry on, and without her execellent research, I wouldn't have the solid information on Reubin Stephens (aka Rubin, Reubin, Abt. 1776 to 1837). On my mother's side (Grace Williams Smith), I've found very little thus far on my own, but she had already done quite a bit of research before she passed on, and I've been filling in some of the blanks. Some of her ancestors were Bilger and Murdock (Scottish). Of course, I will be interested in any specific leads and will share my information as soon as I have double checked some of it through other sources. |
