Katie was born in New York state, ca 1876, soon after her parents, John Malaske (originally Chmieleski/Chmielecki) and Barbara Ostrowski emigrated from Poland. She married Frank Lugert in Perry, Oklahoma Territory, 14 Jan 1895 and with him founded the town of Lugert, Oklahoma in Kiowa County. She died in 1935.
