George Dykes, Jr. was enumerated in the 1800 SC census of Orangeburg District, pg. 301, with one male and female, both in the 16-26 age range.
It is believed that this George Dykes moved to Wilkinson Co., GA and was living there in the 1820 GA census with probable sons, Allen and Warren Dykes.
On 03 Jan 1825, George Dykes was disbursed $245.95 from his father's estate in Pulaski Co., GA.
George Dykes and Hilda Dykes were members of the Ramah Primitive Baptist Church in 1816, Wilkinson Co., GA, and Moses Dykes was a member of the Friendship Church.
Davidson (1978) stated that "George Dykes was a Justice of the Inferior Court, 1817, Wilkinson Co., GA" (pg. 381). "Samuel Dick was a Justice of the Inferior Court, 1808", relationship unknown (Ibid, pg. 286). Could the said Samuel Dick be the one and the same Samuel Dykes who fought in the Florida Seminole Indian War of 1817-1818, 1st Regiment (Wimberly's) GA Militia?
One George Dykes of Wilkinson Co., GA participated in the 1827 Land Lottery of GA, No. 174, Land Lottery Register No. 3.
George Dykes, Sr. was enumerated in the 1830 GA census of Wilkinson Co., pg. 347, and George Dykes was on pg. 335. George Dykes, Sr. was evidently deceased as his household was enumerated with one male 15-20, one female 30-40, and one female 50-60.
George Dykes, Jr. was enumerated with one male 10-15, three males 15-20, one male 30-40 (George Dykes, Jr.), one female 15-20, one female 40-50 and one female 70-80.
On page 347, T. or S. Dick was listed with one male under 5, two males 5-10, one female under 5, one female 10-15, one female 15-20, and one female 30-40
(Wilkinson Co., M19, Roll 21).
A look at the 1850 GA census of Wilkinson Co. under the enumeration of Frederick Dykes, pg. 394, showed that he was 50 years old and had been born in SC.
The 1840 GA census of Wilkinson Co., pg. 287, showed Thomas Dicks, age 60-70 (born 1770-1780), relationship unknown.
The probable children of George and Hilda Dykes were:
George Dykes, Jr.
Allen Dykes married Polly Bledsoe, 09 Nov 1811, Upson Co., GA
Warren Dykes, a preacher at the Ozias Bapt. Church, founded 14 Jul 1832, Irwin Co., GA, married Sarah Dykes, who died 29 Feb 1845 (Christian Index Obituaries, 16 May 1845, pg. 80, Macon Co., GA)
Isaac Dykes married Nicey Taylor, 23 Dec 1824, Wilkinson Co., GA. Was this Isaac Dykes the one and same person who fought in the Florida Seminole War, 1817-1818, Johnson's Co. Volunteers?
Zaddock Dykes married Mary McNeal, 15 Mar 1832, Wilkinson Co., GA
Richamond Dykes married Susan Ward, 19 Aug 1832, Wilkinson Co., GA
