ICHARD STEPHENS:
Richard (Ebenezer, Richard, Henry), son of Ebenezer and Sophia Stevens, was born in Canaan, Connecticut, March 1, 1750, and died in New Marlborough, Massachusetts, April 26, 1847. He married Esther Ward March 5, 1772. ("Richard Stevens of Sheffield and Esther Ward"-- Middletown, Connecticut Church Records). She was born November 4, 1749, and died December 25, 1835. They resided in Sheffield and New Marlborough Massachusetts.

Richard Stevens was in Colonel John Ashley's Berkshire Company Regiment, April 26, to May 20, 1777, at Saratoga, New York, September 19, to October 19, 1777; with Northern Army October 14 to 24 1780 in the Berkshire Alarm.

BENEZER STEPHENS, JR., REV.:
Ebenezer Stevens (Ebenezer, Richard, Henry) was probably born in Canaan, Connecticut. He married Rhoda Johnson, and settled in Hancock, Massachusetts. He became a clergyman.

"Ebenezer Stevens commenced his itinerant labor on the Pittsfield Circuit, Massachusetts, the present year, as colleague of Cyrus Stebbins. The following two years he spent on the Litchfield and Middletown Circuit, Connecticut. He traveled four years more, two on the Cambridge, New York Circuit, and two on the Brandon Circuit, Vermont. In 1804 and 1805 he is returned as supernumary and in 1806 as located. He was a choice man, habitually buoyant in spirit, bland in manners and vivacious in conversation, and of course he could not but be universally popular. He was exceedingly fertile in comparisons and figures, rendering his discourse at once interesting and comprehesible to the popular understanding. In New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont, he is affectionately remembered by many. He died in the faith." (Memorials of Methodism, by Reverand Abel Stevens: Preachers of 1797).

Reverand Dillon Stevens (Reverand Ebenezer, Ebenezer, Richard, Henry), was born in Hancock, Berkshire County, Massachusetts, April 6, 1794. In his twenty-fifth year he united with the M. E. Church, and began preaching in 1822 in the New York Conference. He served the following charges: Brandon, Vermont, Highgate, Vermont, Peru, Massachusetts, and Gloversville, New York He took a supernumary relation in 1846, and made Gloversville his home until his death, January 10, 1861. He left a wife and daughter. See Minutes of Troy Conference M. E. Church for 1861, Page 91.

OHN STEPHENS:
John Stevens (Ebenezer, Richard, Henry), was born December 8, 1765 at Sheffield, Massachusetts. He settled in that part of Greenbush, Rensselaer County, New York, that is now called Sandlake, and married Elizabeth Gillett, born March 24, 1768, the daughter of Nathan and Hannah (Stone) Gillett. She died in Sandlake June 4, 1809, and Mr. Stevens married, second, a widow, Mrs. Hannah Parsons. Mr. Stevens removed to Grafton, New York where he died September 19, 1831, and was buried at Sandlake. He was Supervisor for the town of Greenbush, a member of the State Legislature, 25th Session, 1802, and the 36th Session, 1812-13. He was Trustee of the Protestant Society of Sandlake, out of which the Presbyterian Church was formed.

James Stephens (Henry, Henry, Henry) was born in Stonington, Connecticut, October 5, 1732, and settled in Canaan, Connecticut. He married Phebe Guitteau January 19, 1768. He died September 11, 1805, and his widow died January 23, 1808, in her 76th year. They were buried in Canaan Valley. Their childrens birthdates were found in Canaan records.
