PROCLAMATION
TO THE PEOPLE OF CUYAHOGA FALLS:
Whereas:On October 3, 1892, in a log cabin in Pidgeon Run, Ohio, Joshua
Pliney and Margaret Armintha Shilling were blessed with the arrival of the eighth of their nine children,Hazel Marie; and
Whereas:Hazel Shilling's childhood and growing-up years were spent inPidgeon Run, Ohio as a farm girl, telephone operator and school teacher; and
Whereas:In 1915 Hazel married Hilbert Sterling, and in 1917 they moved to Cuyahoga Falls,Ohio where four children were born; Dale,Robert, Dean and Nancy. Her years in the Falls were devoted to her family, to the Methodist Church and to this community; and
Whereas:On October 1, 1972, she will be celebrating the 80th Anniversary of her birth with her children,grandchildren and great grandchildren, and on this occasion is deserving of a place ofhonor.
Now, Therefore:I,William R. Coleman, Mayor of the City of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, in recognition of the inspiring life of this lady, do hereby proclaim Sunday, October 1, 1972
"HAZEL STERLING DAY"
and extend best wishes for a most Happy Birthday and invite her many friends to join in expressing their congratulations.
In Witness Whereof:I have here unto set my hand and caused the Seal ofthe City of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio to be affixed this 25th day of September, 1972.
