| I am researching the TANIS family from Ouddorp, Zuid Holland, Nederland. This family dates back to the 1500s on the island of Goeree. In the 1800s, many immigrated to the United States settling in New Jersey and Michigan. In the case of my line, the PAULUS TANIS family, they first went to the isle of Texel around 1838, and then to Anna Paulowna, Zijpe, Noord Holland. In the 1870s they immigrated to the United States settling in Roseland and South Holland, Illinois. I am interested in all of these families, but especially the families that went to South Holland and Roseland. They include the children of Paulus Tanis and Johanna Longstraat. The children are: PIETER TANIS and wife Maria Blom; CORNELIS TANIS and wife Aaltje (Alice) Glinthorst; KLAARTJE TANIS, widow of Hendrik Glinthorst, and her son Paulus Glinthorst; JANNETJE (Jane or Jennie) TANIS and her husband Pieter Breen; PHILIP TANIS, emigrated as a single man, and married Trijntje de Jong in Illinois. Also looking for JOHANNA LONGSTRAAT, the mother, she emigrated with her son Cornelis in 1870. I'm also doing research other Dutch families which includes the KLEIN family from Gelderland; KROEZE family from Gelderland; GLINTHORST family from Gelderland; OTTER family from Friesland and Overijssel.
