| Welcome to the St. Mary Family Page. My great, great grandfather, Pierre Sacmari was born 1797 in Eschdorf (Commune of Eschdorf), Luxembourg, Europe. and went to Redange, Luxembourg around 1820, probably when he married Elisabeth Schmitt. He died April 8, 1838 in Redange. It appears at this time he had three children. Peter, Catharine, and Maria who died as infant. My greatgrandfather Peter St. Mary was born in Redange, Luxembourg, Europe in 1825 and came to America in 1855 settling in Michigan where he worked in the lumbering business several years after which he came West and secured employment as a fireman on a steamboat running out of LaCrosse, WI. In 1864 he came to Caledonia and bought a farm northwest of Caledonia, MN. Also in 1864 he married Miss Elizabeth Eltgroth and they had seven children. My grandfather (John) and my father (Harold) were born on this farm. Please feel free to explore this site. |
