Find Family

Welcome family members to the Stoutenburg-Kruger Family Genealogy page!

In 1999, I embarked on a mission to rediscover our roots and bring to life our past! Of course, this journey has only begun, as we find ourselves updating the database on a near daily basis.

I hope you enjoy the experience of reading this information as much as we’ve enjoyed compiling it! It’s been such a thrill to be perusing through 1900 census images, and suddenly find one of our family members. Or, to discover a very old page from a family bible, revealing the joys and tragedies of their lives. What was it like to live in Philadelphia in the 1800s? What were their neighborhoods like? How did a woman cope in 1918 when her husband died well before his prime, leaving her with a large brood of children? What was it like to cross the Atlantic in the early 1800s on the way to the port of Philadelphia? Many of these answers we hope to reveal through this research.

I wonder what our ancestors would think if they could only glimpse the future – their great-great grandchildren searching for them through endless records, now forever preserved digitally on the internet. Is this a great time to be alive or what?

The best part of this experience has been reuniting with family members. I have enjoyed talking with all of you, and I have gotten so much back from you. Many of the pictures and leads would not have happened with your interest, enthusiasm and support.

You should know that this project is very special and important to me, because I want our ancestors to live forever in our hearts and memories. I feel so in touch with each one of them when I touch a birth certificate or Social Security record, read a letter they wrote, or view their picture. It’s like reaching back into the past. So many of our family members lived difficult lives, died young, or weren’t able to reach their potential. I want this effort to raise them up, and make sure they are not forgotten, but instead are remembered and cherished forever.

Enjoy this adventure into the past!
